blind 03:15
blind some days I see it all clearly, understand why I’m here and what I believe can articulate what I truly see and I know where I’m meant to be some days I don’t understand a thing well I run around and my head it spins I’m struck down dumb feeling paper thin don’t know where I am meant to be some days I dig myself a hole so deep it starts to take a toll I feel black as night with no control don’t how I can even see (ch) I got two feet they walk me in a line, I got two hands a left and a right I got two minds side by side and I got one love that left me blind some days I see the light of day understand why it all worked out this way can sit and breathe and it’s all ok and I say what will be will be
2.
faith in medicine dig a hole for my heart and bury it in there or tie it to a rock and throw it in the sea, away from me take my love for you, round my neck like a chain and go fasten it to a migrating bird, on his way across the world (ch) I might die without a heart but that’s a chance I’ll have to take I put my faith in medicine, you know it’s come a long, long way you heard it all before and I’m tired of talking see I’m not right? just look how I’m walking and I don’t sleep take my heart away, that could you do? take my love away, cause it was all there for you, give me peace

dig deep 03:41
dig deep dig deep they always said to you dig deep now you know it’s true dig deep it’s what you gotta do, it’ll all come back to you dig deep that’s the start of it dig deep get to the heart of it dig deep it’s time to start a new, it’ll all come back to you dig deep make a better choice dig deep listen to your voice dig deep do what you do, it’ll all come back to you don’t be afraid of love, don’t be afraid of giving don’t be afraid to live the life you should be living dig deep and name your fear dig deep and trust in what you hear dig deep look inside it’s true, it’ll all come back to you don’t be afraid to love, don’t be afraid at all don’t be afraid to love, don’t be afraid to fall dig deep they always said to you dig deep now you know it’s true dig deep it’s what you gotta do, it’ll all come back to you don’t be afraid of love, don’t be afraid of giving don’t be afraid to love the life you should be living don’t be afraid to love, don’t be afraid at all don’t be afraid to love, don’t be afraid to fall

bring a shovel the post mortem didn’t help me, I still feel like a failure but I smile and say to all I’m doing fine if I open up completely once I start I will not stop so I guess I’m getting pretty good at lying I’m at a railway station, looking for salvation and realize my brain’s completely fried we said we’d still be friends but that hurts more in the end and drinking won’t erase you from my mind (ch) now you said to bring a shovel but I brought along a spade then I did a lot of digging look at the huge big hole I made but you was asking me to fill a hole and not to dig a new one but digging’s what I do, I guess that’s why my heart’s a blue one I’m getting pretty good at misreading situations It’s probably a condition I know it caused you deep frustration my body knew just what to do but my head got in the way and I couldn’t really talk with all I had to say (ch) now I’ll never get you back no matter what I do so I think I’ll take my spade if it’s all the same to you and as I dig myself a new hole, you I’ll go on missing and maybe come one day I’ll have finally learnt to listen (ch)

digging around why you in there digging around? way underground, digging where you don’t belong what you in there hoping to find? The conscience you left behind, must be getting close to hell ain’t it getting hotter in there? gases mixed in the air, must be getting hard to breathe? why in there digging around? way underground, don’t you say it’s for humanity why you in there digging a hole? the ultimate goal is the answer that I’m waiting for what you in there hoping to find? an invisible line? when you reach it tell yourself you win why you in there digging around? way underground, digging where you don’t belong why you in there digging at all? it’s starting to fall, caving in upon itself (ch) and when the mountains fall will you admit your part in it? and when the oceans rise will you be safe inside your pit? it must be time to think again why you in there digging a hole? without a soul, digging where you don’t belong why forever dig for new stuff? don’t you have enough? tell you now you got it wrong taking without paying again, a means to an end, looks like you dug us all a grave why you in there digging a hole? without a soul, ain’t it time to turn a different page? (ch) and when the oceans rise will you admit your part in it? and when the mountains fall will you be safe inside your pit? it must be time to think again

worms 03:39
worms I don’t know if worms can here, I don’t know if they have ears just how do they process sound? while they’re digging underground how do they communicate? with nods and smiles? I’m guessing no handshakes I don’t know if they can talk, all I know is they don’t walk but if worms could hear music as they do what they do if worms could hear music, I wonder what they’d listen to? is their world a world I can understand? this world we share with animals and plants are they capable of love? and what about insects and grubs and bugs? do they dance around in a joyous way? and if they talk, what do they say? maybe ‘how’d you sleep?’ or ‘do you know you snore?’ or ‘I don’t want to sleep with you no more’?

Hi, I am Chris Swayn from Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia.
I am in a band called THE WARRAINS and I also do solo stuff every now and again. Sometimes I write by myself but I'll often collaborate with my poet father Barry.
I have an alt country kind of thing happening but wouldn't say that's all you're gonna get.
